Who Are We? — The Story of Thriftei

Thriftei is more than an online shop — it's a journey that started from passion, creativity, and a love for thrifted style. What began as a small idea at home has grown into a community of people who appreciate vintage fashion, unique finds, and sustainable shopping.

Our goal has always been the same: to give pre-loved items a second life, and to help people express their style through pieces that feel personal, rare, and full of character.

How Thriftei Started (2022 — Fez, Morocco)

Thriftei was born in 2022, from my house in Fez, Morocco. I've always had a strong interest in fashion, especially vintage and streetwear-inspired style. Over time, I noticed something simple but powerful: many people around me really liked the way I dressed.

Friends, classmates, people I knew… they would ask questions about where my clothes came from, compliment my outfits, and tell me that my style felt different. That's when the idea clicked.

Instead of keeping this passion only for myself, I decided to create an Instagram page and share it with others. That's how I opened the page named Thriftei — 👉 Thriftei Instagram (click here to see it)

At the beginning, it was very small and personal. I started by selling my own clothes, especially pieces I didn't wear anymore, but were still in great condition. Vintage items, Y2K styles, and unique pieces that I knew someone else could enjoy better than me.

Growing Beyond My City

After a short time, something unexpected happened: people didn't only show interest in Fez — they started asking from other cities too.

That's when Thriftei went from being "a small Instagram page" to something more serious.

If I wanted to grow, I had to solve the biggest challenge: delivery.

So I started looking for a delivery company that could help me ship items safely and professionally around Morocco.

When I started searching for delivery options, the first company I visited and talked to in person was Soyar Logistics.

I focused mainly on:

And with every new item I found, I would post it online, describe it, and prepare it for the next buyer.

The Hardest Part: Photos and Editing

People often think the hardest part of selling thrifted items is finding products — but honestly, one of the hardest parts was something else:

📸 taking good photos and preparing them to look professional.

I had to:

  • Take clear pictures with good lighting
  • Make the item look clean and attractive
  • Cut the background (so the product stands out)
  • Place it on the background style I always use
  • Make the post look consistent

This took a lot of time and energy, but it taught me discipline and helped me understand the importance of presentation.

After that, I would clean and prepare the items. And whenever an item sold, I would take it to Soyar Logistics, so it could be delivered safely.

Reaching 300+ Items Sold in One Year

As the months passed, Thriftei became bigger than I ever expected.

In just one year, I sold over 300 items. That was a big achievement for me because it proved that:

  • People trusted the shop
  • The quality was good
  • Consistency matters
  • Hard work actually pays off

It wasn't always easy, but each sale pushed me to continue.

A New Chapter: Moving to Spain

Later, I moved to Spain for my studies, and of course, I had to adapt.

After around two months, I decided to do the same thing again — but in a new country, with a new market, and a new way of selling. This time, I chose Vinted.

Just like in Morocco, I started visiting flea markets in Spain too. I bought some items, posted them on Vinted, and something crazy happened: I sold some pieces in the same weekend.

I was surprised — not only because of the speed, but also because it showed me that the second-hand market in Spain is very active.

From Clothes to Handbags: Finding the Real Passion

In the first year, I mostly sold clothes. But later, I realized something important:

In Spain, thrifted clothing is still valuable, but it's harder to make profit compared to Morocco. People here know the value of vintage, and sometimes the buying price is already high — meaning you can sell it, but you don't always earn much.

That's when I discovered the category that changed everything for me: 👜 Handbags.

Switching to handbags was the best decision I made. Because unlike clothes:

  • Most bags are preserved really well
  • Many are vintage but still look "like new"
  • Condition is usually better and more stable
  • Bags can be rare and collectible

I found my passion in handbags because it felt like entering a completely new world. Some finds feel like discovering treasure. And the best part is: handbags are not just accessories — they tell a story.

Over 1600 Items Sold in Spain… and Still Growing

Since starting in Spain, Thriftei grew even more.

I've sold over 1600 items here, and I'm still continuing. Every sale motivates me to search for better pieces, improve the shop, and keep building trust with buyers from different countries.

That's another thing I love about Vinted: it allows me to sell not only in Spain, but to buyers in many other countries too.
